The final objective of this project was the development of catalysts based on metal oxides, both bulk and supported on pillared nanostructured clays, for the combustion of VOCs in dilute air streams. This included the specific objectives of:
1.- Preparation and characterization of catalysts based on Fe, Mn bulk oxides and supported on clays modified by pillaring with Al (Al-PILC), Ti (Ti-PILC) and Fe (Fe-PILC) for the elimination of n- hexane and ethylmethyl ketone (MEK) in concentrations and loads usual in gaseous emissions from the chemical industry.
2.- Application of the catalysts in a fixed bed reactor.
