ABOUT ME
Yldz Saad Salim is a PhD student in the Catalysis and Reactor Engineering Group (CREG) at the Aragon Institute of Engineering Research (I3A), University of Zaragoza. She holds a BSc in Refining and Petroleum Engineering from the University of Mosul (2020) and an MSc in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH), Iraq (2025). Officially designated as an Assistant Lecturer by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, she completed a comprehensive Teaching Methods Course, qualifying her to deliver undergraduate lectures, supervise academic laboratories, serve on university academic committees, and act as a research co-advisor for Master’s thesis students.
In parallel to her academic career, Yldz works as a Petroleum and Production Engineer at Gulf Keystone Petroleum International (GKPI), Iraq, building on over four years of intensive energy sector experience. Her professional background and technical interests span subsurface asset management, reservoir engineering and operations, production optimization, well performance analysis, enhanced oil recovery (EOR), and plant-level surface processing operations (fluid separation and gas handling under real-time conditions). It is complemented by extensive field compliance in H₂S safety systems and industrial health, safety, and environmental (HSE) management.
Her master’s research investigated chemical and mechanical water shut-off methods in naturally fractured carbonate reservoirs, combining laboratory core flooding experiments, sodium silicate gel formulation, and rheological measurements with dynamic reservoir engineering and industry-grade simulation techniques using Petrel, ECLIPSE, and PROSPER.
Her current doctoral research at the University of Zaragoza focuses on improving methanol synthesis through CO₂ utilization and renewable hydrogen integration, exploring how these carbon conversion processes can be directly applied to Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) strategies.
